Laura Rossi

- Leading the Machine Translation (MT) program with focus on Asian languages and improvements in the Western language area- Guiding MT-related internal data production, software development and quality assurance activities- Key advisor to the management team on the subjects of MT-related business strategy, work methodologies and technologies- Process definition and modelling- Owning the relationship with Language Service Providers and other external suppliers.

- Coordinating and improving the technical documentation and software translation process in compliance with corporate and quality standards- Suggesting improvement strategies for quality, cost and cycle time- Coding of new strategies in official departmental working instructions and procedures- Main contact for technical writers, product design management, product marketing management and any other people providing input during the localization process- Keeping up to date with respect to translation tools and methodologies- Timely providing organized information to the linguistic project team members

- Translation and review of technical product documentation, marketing documentation and software products from English into Italian and English into German, esp. related to cardiac rhythm management.- Translation coordination activities (cost estimates, planning and communication with free-lance translators/reviewers and in-country proof-readers)

- Participation in the development of new linguistic applications, esp. for terminology extraction and retrieval- Programming of a multilingual terminology database for the corporate Intranet, identification of new term candidates, management of existing terminology- Management of terminology for machine translation software applications (on syntactic, morphological and semantic level)- Testing of machine translation systems (of both linguistic and statistical approach) and development of internal or external writing rules for output improvement- Translation Memories-related activities (file analyses, conversions, and processing)- Terminology extraction for English, German, Italian, French and Dutch (partly also for Spanish and Portuguese)- Supporting management in streamlining translation workflow

- Check of product labels’ linguistic correspondence to international standards- Together with the Information Systems department, development of an outline for the creation of a database for the management of label types and versions- Participation in the localization process of company medical software- Proof-reading of translations of manuals, web sites, marketing materials (esp. Italian and German)
