RYou might be thinking of the movie called "Without a Trace" (1983)This film, centering on a little boy's abduction, casts Kate Nelligan as the distraught mother who lashes out at the police but is helped by a relentless detective played by Judd Hirsch.The boy had reddish brown hair and was found living with a man who kidnapped the boy to be a servant for his elderly, disabled mother while he went to work. The boy was only allowed outside to play in the backyard on occasion.

RI don't know where that one is, but I'll tell you a funny story about celebrity apartments... Years ago, before we met, my wife was living in a little apartment in the East Village, on East 5th St., and one day there was a knock at her door and it was Judd Hirsch, from the old TV show Taxi (see link, below), and he told her that he used to live in that apartment when he was a struggling actor in New York City, and he told her he was just walking around the old neighborhood and asked if he could come in and see it again. Of course, she said yes, and he looked all around and talked about what it was like when he lived there and then he thanked her very nicely and left.Good luck!... :-D
