I have more than five years of work experience with a major hotel chain and a strong academic background in hospitality and tourism with completion of both a technical diploma and an undergraduate degree. I am also a graduate from the Masters of Business Administration – Hospitality and Tourism program at the University of Guelph. While at the University of Guelph I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and it was here that I obtained my passion for teaching.
Currently, I am a College Professor at George Brown College where I teach business communications in the Centre of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts. In this position, I am responsible for teaching students on how to communicate effectively in the hospitality environment.
Prior to attending the University of Guelph, I worked as a Guest Services Manager at The Westin Calgary where I oversaw the front desk operations, handling guest issues and ensuring a high level of customer service. I also worked as Guest Relations Liaison and was responsible for development and implementation of Westin’s strategic initiatives in service quality. My first full-time position at the hotel was Marketing Coordinator, where I created advertisements and promotional material for the Sales Department.
