RStargate SG-1. A physicist and an anthopologist/archeologist/linguist are two of the main characters, so there is some science talk. I think you'd like the show, it's interesting, serious at times, and hilarious. There's also a movie that's set before the series (it was originally a movie then it became a TV series). There's a whole series set out that normally costs about $200 and if you buy each season separately (there are a total of ten seasons with two movies afterwards, The Ark of Truth, which is already out on DVD, and Continuum, which comes out in July) Circuit City, Costco or Amazon normally has the separate seasons for about $20 each. RIt took me awhile to get into Farscape and by the time I did, the series was cancelled. Too bad. It was getting good. I liked Ben Browder in both roles. Despite what he said about the differences in the roles on his Stargate SG-1 series finale interview clip on Scifi.com, I didn't really see the characters as being all that different. Though both were likeable, they were impetuous, took fast action, and had fairly large egos. I think minus Richard Dean Anderson, the series had to pull in names like his, Beau Bridge's, and Claudia Black's to insure continuation of the series. I think that was a smart move, though I really liked the Don Davis character and hated to see him go.

RBen is very family oriented and has spent a lot of time away making television shows and movies. It must have been very difficult to commute from Vancouver to LA every weekend and I would guess he doesn't want to start another TV show where he has to do that again (he has voiced this at Farscape convention Charity Breakfasts). I think his stints on Science Fiction shows filmed in Australia and Canada kept him out of Hollywood's eye so they are not familiar with his work. I believe that Hollywood is also slightly prejudiced against acting on science fiction shows and thus does not count Ben's range and capabilities and technical savvy. He also does not market himself on the Internet like some other actors do by joining Twitter, Facebook, and has just begun to Blog, and so forth; being very humble and self-effacing.
