Annette, de Jong

Annette Kritsos-de Jong is a State Registered Nurse, HIV Counselor and Trainer with a Masters Degree in Public Health. In her consultancy work Annette has two main areas of interest: HIV/Aids and Sexual/ Reproductive health in the broadest sense. For example; Implementing and evaluating HIV programs , Reach out activities for groups most at risk & Youth friendly services, Training on Patient education, Adherence and Counseling etc.
In her opinion, HIV/AIDS is linked with many different determinants, therefore integration with other health services , mainstreaming HIV in other sectors, active community participation and close cooperation between all the providers and stakeholders is required. Although HIV and sexual health matters are influenced by political and economical factors; Ideas, Changes and Implementation starts at the grass-root level.
Annette started her professional career in Holland where she worked fifteen years in the field of HIV and STI; as a specialist nurse, programme officer and consultant HIV/AIDS in different settings national and international: hospital, clinic, community and different NGO’s. This way she has been direct involved with all the changes and complicated but interesting developments concerning HIV/AIDS and gained valuable experience in clinical, psycho-social and programming healthcare aspects over the years. And there are still so much challenges and items to fight for. She believes that her combination of theoretical and het practical experience can be of really value in coaching, implementing and evaluating projects.
